Itinerary

Day 1 - Overnight Ferry to Rotterdam

If you’re renting from us then meet your tour leader and some of the group at our depot in Leeds where you can leave your car securely parked. Drive up to Hull (1.5 hour drive) together before boarding the ferry. Meet the rest of the group who will be travelling in their own campervan at our first event together – a welcome buffet dinner onboard the ferry! Eat, drink, talk and even dance or go shopping onboard! Then retire to your own private cabin. The sailing takes 11 hours in total.

Day 2 - Amsterdam

Wake up and enjoy the included buffet breakfast in your own time. The ferry arrives in the morning at Rotterdam but we won’t be staying there long – take a short 2 hour road trip through the Netherlands to Amsterdam where we will be staying for one night at the best campsite in the Netherlands – Camping Zeeburg. The campsite is located on its own island in Amsterdam itself and is set up for all-year-round use with al the facilities you would expect including showers, toilets and restaurant/bar. But because its proximity to the city (30 minutes on public transport) you can always wonder into town and explore everything that Amsterdam has to offer!

Day 3 - Driving to Wolfsburg

You have a whole day to get to Wolfsburg and this would be a 5 hour drive on the Autobahn if you did it in one go! However, we recommend taking it easy and stopping along the way in one of the many small towns and villages or even the city of Hanover.

Once you arrive at Wolfsburg you will soon realise that this whole town is crazy for Volkswagen, after all 60% of its population works for them! We will all be staying right at the centre of the VW action at Camping Allersee for 3 nights. This all-year round campsite is within a recreational area that includes a lake and the Autostadt and VW factory. Everything in this town is within walking distance and there is a lot to explore.

Day 4 - Wolfsburg

Get up early because today is the big day! Explore everything on offer at the Autostadt and enjoy a private group tour of the VW factory. In the evening, the choice as always is yours, you can keep hanging out with the group or go at it alone and do your own thing.

Day 5 - Driving to Westfalia

Wake up, grab some breakfast and leave at your leisure – you have all day to get to our final stop of the trip – Westfalia! This region of Germany is also the name used for the VW T2 campervan and is absolutely gorgeous to drive through. It takes 4 hours to make the drive in one-go but as always, we would recommend stopping along the way in one of the many quaint German towns and villages. Our exact destination is Camping Biggesse, chosen because we think its one of the best campsites in Europe! The campsite is Nestled right beside a lake in the heart of Wetfalia, the campsite is open all year round and has all the facilities that you would expect including an indoor BBQ area!

Day 6 - Westfalia

Today you have a full day to explore this nature lovers paradise with miles of hiking trails, forests and meadows. You can also explore castles, caves, museums and the nearby towns of Attendorn, Drolshagen, Olpe and Lennestadt.  The choice is really yours! Either go at it alone or join in with what the rest of the group are planning on doing!

Day 7 - Driving to Rotterdam and Overnight Ferry to Hull

Wake up at your leisure and pack up camp before a leisurely 4 hour drive to Rotterdam. We recommend heading straight out so as to get the afternoon exploring the city before catching the 2030 ferry back to Hull. Enjoy a final group meal on the ferry (included), drinks at the bar, catch a show or even watch a film at the onboard cinema before heading to your own private cabin for the night.

Day 8 - Arrive back in the UK

Enjoy a buffet breakfast onboard the ferry (included) before your arrival in Hull at 0830. From here, either head straight home or if you are renting one of the GOAT Roadtrip campervans, head back to our depot to return your vehicle.
