Pick up your VW T6 campervan from Leeds and take a leisurely drive through the Yorkshire countryside right up to your dedicated pitch on the banks of the River Ouse, just outside the medieval city of York. This truly stunning location at Naburn Lock is the perfect spot to experience all the fun of the iconic VW campervan plus beautiful waterfront views and plenty of amenities.
Breakfast? How about you use the facilities in the campervan to cook up a full English. Lunch? No problem – there is a cafe at the marina on site. Dinner? It’s just a short stroll to the local village pub.
Then the unique value of this location is, of course, that not only can you drive into York for a daytrip with your campervan but you could also rent a boat for a few hours and sail into the city (bookable as an extra at check-out)!

Whether you’ve never driven a boat before or you’re an experienced boater, hire a boat and navigate the waterways to Ripon, the River Aire or the South Yorkshire Canals. Chose from a variety of Quicksilver open boats or, if you’re looking for a more luxury option, choose the Enigma 26. Fully kitted out with sun loungers, Bluetooth sound system and entertainment deck, it’s perfect for an evening on the river with your friends. Find out more when you select this activity at check-out.
If you’re looking for a quirky, family orientated cycle route, why not try the Solar Path to York City. This 6-mile-long route follows the old East Coast railway line to Selby. Dotted along this picturesque trail are scale models of the planets in the solar system as well as well known space craft. The road also takes you past the old Terry’s Chocolate Orange Factory and York’s Millennium Bridge before arriving at Tower Gardens in York city centre. We also offer bike-racks on some of our campervans – select one at check-out!
The River Ouse Walk begins in Naburn and takes you on a 4.6-mile countryside trail along the riverbank. Stroll alongside the Rowntree Park Canal before exploring the gardens and crossing the Millennium Bridge towards York Castle and Clifford’s Tower.
For a walk a little more on the wild side, head to Askham Bog Nature Resrerve. The area is home to an abundance of wildlife including willows, goldfinch, roe deer and foxes. Thanks to the raised boardwalk, this short, circular route can be accessed whatever the weather.
Just a 10-minute drive or 30-minute boat journey from Naburn Lock is the historic city of York. Here you can wander the narrow, timber framed streets of the shambles and browse the independent stalls in the market square. Don’t forget to head to the food court and check out the huge variety of cuisines on offer. For a glimpse into the city’s fascinating past, visit York dungeon or take part in a ghost tour to discover the sinister secrets of the city.
